That's too funny! I followed up your links Barefaced, and had a great time reading all those angry comments from cat lovers! Who on earth would believe that you could paint Charlie Chaplin on a cat's rear end without ending up in hospital!!!

Darn, I saw the link on JokeADay and first thing I thought of was the Snopes link... I wanted to be the one who found this first. :)

JaneDoughnut said...

That is so wrong! But not nearly as wrong as Cats that Look Like Hitler. And most of those are real.

CreditFool said...

This is awesome! It looks gorgeous. I wonder how the cats like it though. I bet they hate the process.

Anonymous said...

i hope it's photoshop. otherwise it's an animal abuse.

Anonymous said...

If the cats hateded it they'de be in the hospital!

Anonymous said...

These cats are awsome!! i might consider doing my cats.

Anonymous said...

Cats lick themselves constantly. I hope it was non-toxic color. I'm not impressed!

happy happy almond joy~ said...

that's not right
i mean the cats might not like it
i know some of them look good but still. that's a little disturbing

Anonymous said...

Whether this is real or not the thought is disturbing. They would have to undergo general anesthetic and then be dyed and painted. It's insane. Plus animal cruelty.
However, the pictures were kool(some were damn scary) but in real life, that would be horrid.

Wendy said...

Of course it's fake! Sheesh! People are so gullible...they'll believe anything their Aunt Clara digs up on the Internet...

The pictures are cool -- folks with too much time on their hands but good Photoshop skills.

The scary part are the people who "thought" this was real. We need to figure out how to eliminate them from the general gene pool.

Anonymous said...

Oh it's real you can buy the book that tells you how it's done and why.The book is called "Why Paint Cats"

Anonymous said...

these cats are real. they have been painting cats in the East for hundreds of years. check out the book. it explains the process and the dyes that are used. the cat's are not under general anesthesia. as a matter of fact there are no drugs used and they are generally vegetable based dyes. the do look pretty cool. although the charlie chaplin behind still doesn't make that end of the cat pretty!

Anonymous said...

thats soooo cruel!!!!

Anonymous said...

thats soo cruel!!!!

Anonymous said...

ya., bout that.! that's the dumbest

thing ive ever seen. plus animal

cruelty but i guess its not as bad as

piercing a cats ear.

Anonymous said...

the cats are painted with water base paint, the cats are ok with it, and it is a blast, try spending the time with your cats and if they are like mine, they will let you have a blast and prance around like they are kind of the hill , till they get a bath..lol

Anonymous said...

correction *king of the hill

You idiots! - Yes they are real - I've seen some in person - they are done with non-toxic dye - just like dying easter eggs - most are done while the cats are asleep - some of these take weeks to do and are constantly touched up since the cats clean themselves - these can cost up to $15,000 to do - So no photoshop!!

Anonymous said...

How can this be animal cruelty?? Its just non-toxic (possibly food based) dyes, the cats look cool, and so what if people have nothing else to do than paint their cats?? What IS animal cruelty is the docking of a dog's tail and ears ("cuz its s'posed to look like that!" puh-leeze! God would've made them that way if that's the case!)... dog fighting, cock fighting, hunting for sport (and not for food), .... i could go on and on. This just shows the imagination of people. Think of something better to complain about than these awesome paintings!

Anonymous said...

i think painted cats are well cool! Anything to make those horrid, concieted creatures devoid of all dignity and self respect is fine by me.I mean, having an arse like a tea-towel holder has to be embarrassing enough, without some goon spraying a pictorially accurate representation of charlie chaplin upon said orifice!!! Rock on, cat painters!!!

Caryl said...

If...IF this were real...why can i not find a single video of a painted cat on youtube...just photos...

Anonymous said...

I agree with the guy (or girl) who posted about humiliating the cat with paint. That is too funny, and I will probably paint my white cat (it's a blank canvas, after all) and ridicule him unmercifully. I have a problem with the fruit who cut his cat's ears to make its head look as flat as his. THAT's just TOO MUCH!! What a jerk!

Kathie Freeman said...

Hello, that cat's ears weren't cut, that's a Scottish Fold cat (duh). Anyway, most of them look pretty stupid, especially the ones that were shaved and then painted. Obviously more folks with too much time on their hands.

Anonymous said...

i think allthugh this is funny to look at it is animal crueltey! it i wrse than dressing them up!
i hate you! IDIOTS!

Anonymous said...

I am almost positive that no cat was shaved to achieve this look. The official title of the cat is a Sphynx. The breed is hairless breed. Check out the URL below for more information.

So Wendy, did your Aunt Clara dig up that web site too?

Sheesh your so gullible!

They used to paint cats in the days of the Pharos, the paint is non-toxic, abuse is putting your animals in stupid clothes, and collecting them when you can't afford them. Read the book before you get overheated. Nobody said you had to buy it from the store, but you can read it in the library for free. And when was the last time you asked Fluffy if she really wanted to have the two year olds over, only to get her fur rubbed the wrong way? Do you know how much work it was to get it going the right way?!

Anonymous said...

oh for shit sake.... if these cats are as loved as the owners look like they are...... smile and say WOW! I am sure not one of these people hurt the cats....
I think it is way cool!!!!!

no k it is real and they put the cats to sleep for the process and its all done with natural dyes the cat won't get sick. its actually really expensive to do but it is real. i mean a few of those are probably photoshopped but the majority of them are real. check for yourself there is a book about it duh.

Anonymous said...

yeah those cats are definitely in a LOT of pain. just look at them, theyre so abused, all of them.

You know its funny, how you animal abuse extremist sling that word around so carelessly: ABUSE.
It means to treat in a harmful way that could cause some injury.

I think its funny that cats can eat their own litterbox leavings, roaches, spoiled food, lizards, frogs, and other things, but if a cat licks its fur when it has NON TOXIC, COMPLETELY NATURAL DYES ON IT, you guys jump and attack anyone who opposes you, all because a person puts it there. its ridiculous.

You let your kids chase it, you have to force it to bathe sometimes, you make it use the bathroom in a box, you make it go to a doctor against its will. Yeah think about that. EVERYTHING YOURE DOING RIGHT NOW is probably against the cats will.

Anonymous said...

Hello? It's a joke. Look at the Amazon book.

Elizabeth Jeanne Perrington said...

That's preety different, but to me, it's one thing if a human wants to panit, tattoe, pierce, etc. to their own body, but the poor cats have no say in it and are at the mercy of their wacked owners. Dat's right, I said dat!

Anonymous said...

For all you idiots that think this is cruel, the paint is food based and the cats themselves DON'T care what they look like, vanity is a human condition.
Perhap you should concern yourselves with real issues.

Anonymous said...

Poor cats. I don't think they like it. Human stupidity has no bounds. It's nothing but new business for selfish people. HATEPAINT from Hungary. LOL.

Mel-C said...

Considering that I have seen painted dogs in person, I won't be surprised to see this done on cats... I guess it's only cruel if we can't stop laughing at it every time you look at it (for every three months!):b otherwise, the stars and moon cat is the most subtle and decent pattern I have seen on this post. I still prefer cats the way they are though :)

Anonymous said...

HAHAHAHAHA laughing at the person who had a problem with the fruit who cut his cats ears....I know you can handle turning your computer on and getting on the internet...now go to google and do a bit of research on cat breeds.

"Anything to make those horrid, concieted creatures devoid of all dignity and self respect is fine by me."....this is a quote from a former post!!! They are cats, NOT dogs! They are not horrid OR conceited; they are just not pack animals like dogs! Guess you think tigers need to be put in THEIR place too, huh? That is the nature God gave them. I have dogs and cats and if I could only have ONE animal in the world, Yes, it would be a dog because of the way they are made; to be part of the pack that I am the leader of and so they defer to me by loving me, following me, etc. My cats do NOT do these things, but they are very affectionate and animals, by the very designation of such, CANNOT posess human traits such as conceit! That is a lovely facet of phyche that ONLY humans can claim.

jacksterp11 said...

that is so so so mean!!!!!!!! and it is not funny

Anonymous said...

its nontoxic vegetable dye...
so it doesn't harm them

Anonymous said...

wow people are fucking stupid. i just want to say get some common sense its obviously fake. if this was real how would you get straight lines on a cat? their hair comes out when you pet them so it wouldnt be that easy to paint them. idiots.

Anonymous said...

I am a cat lover and at first i was mad when i saw the cats painted, but actually its not harmful and its very artisic and would love to be able to do something like this to my two now, they look great and seems fun, they where hilarious!

Anonymous said...

Look up Painted Cat Hoax. A man from NZ a comic, wrote a tongue in cheek book about this, and yes, it's photoshopped.

Anonymous said...

News for everyone. It may have started out as a PHotoshop hoax but it has become reality. Not quite to the degree of some of them but in South Africa there are at least three "shops" where they paint the cats with a artistic spray gun and natural pigment dyes. As I said, not the intricate pics of some of these cats, but the HOAX has actually started a real event for the last year or so. I do not know when the book came out but YES. 200m from my house there is a shop that paints cats and other animals. They have been making pink and green and blue bunnies for more than 10 years and so also coloured white rats, cats etc etc etc. My next door neighbor's poodle goes pink every month with her visit to the parlour. Colouring animals is nothing new - not in South Africa anyway.

you people are dumb asses. its reall and not crul they (most of them) love it! i ADORE my cat and im against animal crulety. this is not it. it's just harmless art and fun.

sarah20335 said...

Kathie Freeman said about shaving the cats...they are called REX cats...look it up on the internet or ask anyone who deals with cats...THAT is a special breed that costs about 10,000 PER KITTEN!THEY ARE NOT SHAVED!

Anonymous said...

actually it is real...it cost between $75 to $100 each session and the more you dye the cat the longer it stays...its just like human hair..and if it was cruel to animals or toxic they wouldnt do it...people need to stop being ignorant.

Cait said...

HELLO ALL YOU PEOPLE THAT THINK THIS IS CRUEL. You. All. Are. S-T-U-P-I-D. I love animals, all of them, and i wouldn't stand for em being abused. BUT CRAP. If you idiots would actually RESEARCH the things you SPOUT off about, you'd see that there is no MISTREATMeNT. No anesthetics, nothing toxic, they are not FORCED to stay. And yea, clothes on a cat look pretty dumb and just piss the cat off...These are DYES. Not heavy or constricting or harmful in any way. They cat probably doesn't even notice. ...idiots. All of you. Bloody, damn idiots.

God do I hate people. I hate them all. For their unrational, emotion driven idiocity. So quick to fly off in a idiot's rage before they even know the whole story....
Of course, I am raging a bit myself. But at least i admit it!

Hey People... calm down... it's supposed to be a joke! Started by a NZ comedian who put a tongue in cheek book together and with photoshop images. He wrote two other books in the same vein - Why Cats Paint (hilarious and his best I think) and Dancing with Cats... its just fun and imaginative. Man you all need to take a chill pill - maybe get over to New Zealand and take a deep breath of some fresh air to clear the brain! Having said all that - I for one LOVE the fact that some people still have the openness of mind to believe that anything is possible....

Guernica was painted by Pablo Picasso and still remains one of the best paintings by him. The painting depicts tragedies of a war as well as the sufferings inflicted on people as a result of the war. Pablo Picasso intended to create this with an aim of attracting the attention of the world when Germans bombed the small town of Basque in Guernica. The painting was completed in the year 1937 and remains a legend to date. http://www.wahooart.com
