The Baby-Jumping Festival

We’re not joking, the Baby-jumping Colacho Festival is a real annual event celebrated all over Spain since the 1620s. It consists of grown men dressed as the Devil leaping over helpless babies. Why do they do this? They represent the devils that, when they jump, they take all the evil with them leaving the babies clean of evil. Here is a snapshot of one of the weirdest religious traditions.

it doesn't happen "all over" Spain. It actually happens in very few villages, and it's rejected by most of the society, and many people are trying to make it illegal...

This "celebration" or "festival" is held in the town of Castrillo de Murcia in the province of Burgos. ONLY 1 fricken village, and not "all over" the country. It is based on some pagan, pre-christian practice that has reached the 21st century (who knows how!!!)It is celebrated in May, around the end of the month.

ooooohhhh! What a dangerous ritual! Any man that can't jump over two babies placed head to toe must be the Devil himself. I hope someone comes to thier senses before someone cuts the ends off of the boys penises!

Ok, so it only happens in one village, that doesn't make it stupid. In fact, many Christian religions are equally as nonsensical as your "pagan, pre-christian" one's. Also to have survived it can't be too dangerous... Plumcookin has a nice point, babies are not very big, aka Not very hard to jump over. How bout we drop em in water instead?
