This odd-looking establishment was designed by Hans Rudi Giger (HR Giger), who worked as a designer on the Alien movies, receiving multiple awards, including an OSCAR for best special effects.

awesome...
wow that's amazing!
Totally cool. Saw a major Giger exhibition once in Berne, with paintings, sculptures, and movie props, and one room featured a full set of six Harkonnen chairs including the table, from Dune.
“Impressive” doesn't even begin to describe it ... these designs look awesome not only on pictures, believe me.
^_^J.
ah... the Harkonnen Chair... i have a full spinal tattoo inspired by the Harkonnen Chair. do these photos also remind you of Kutna Hora in Prague? i wonder if that chair is comfortable? otherwise, simply lost for words!
WHERE IS IT? maybe i can find on the net, but wd be nice to mention -- i'd like to chk it out if i'm ever in same place.
It's in Gruyere in Switzerland
its so CREEPY! i still love it tho
freaky!! But looks freaking Awesome…Do we have alien masked waiters to serve food and drinks??
It's remarkable, but I don't think I'd want to drink a lot. Could you imagine being plastered in there? You'd be too frightened to ever sleep again!
wow, that is amazing, great post - chris @ www.gofrostfire.com
Amazing as always! A very gifted Artist!! I love it, wish I could afford to go!!
Not only did he work on the Alien movies, he designed the monster and much of the sets.
The bar is in the village of Grüare (or something like that) in Swizerlad. Its the artists home village and the local bar there. right across his own museum.
I think his hometown is Chur. There's a café/museum sort of like this.
Good Job! :)
The village is called "Gruyère", like the cheese. Pretty medieval one, with a disturbing Giger museum ^^
Being plastered in that place is one thing, but I would not like to be high in there :o
Makes me feel ill :/
great post man :)
Some suggestions for the menu:
Cranium Cognac
Sternum Scotch
Humerus Hooch
Vertebra Vodka
Radius Rum
Pelvis Port
etc.
