Watch an amazing video in which scientist uncover a giant ant colony that covers 50 square metres and goes eight metres down into the earth. The ants removed 40 tonnes of material to build this enormous colony.

I know they're ants, but to me it seems very unscientific to kill an entire megalopolis just to see its structure. A wonder of the world? Cynical.

I think they could have accomplished the same thing with ultrasound and other techniques.

Sad.

Yeah, poor ants, their civilization now ruined. I prefer the undestructible micro-robot-ant soldiers with cameras, gps and wifi to map the city. or something like that, with a good fluorescent visible text: "I came with peace" on both sides.

I was wondering about that too. It seems so unethical. Who knows how much bigger that structure could have been.
