The world would be a different place today if it weren't for Star Wars. People wouldn't walk around all day making Chewbacca noises for no apparent reason, the U.S. government wouldn't secretly be in the process of making lightsabers and America's first Death Star a reality and most people would still be afraid to make out with their sister. It would also be impossible for people to use the force and take people's clothes off with their minds.
These look like real people shots instead of movie shots. Fun stuff!! (Is this where I have to admit that I saw this movie at the drive-in with my Mom & Dad!) Oy!
am I the only one who LOL'd at Chewy copping a feel?!?! :D (stumbled btw, and I've never seen even 10 seconds of a star wars flick.. damn proud too!) I'm an uber-individualist, what can i say?
Re: Anonymous, leave the uber-individualist alone, your only feeding his delusions, you can tell how special he is by his name, only 25 other Anon's on here, including you!
I think it's great that even people who have not seen the films can recognize Star Wars characters by name. Star Wars will always hold a special niche within pop culture.
One of the anonymice said: Not seeing Star Wars on purpose definitely does not make you an individual. It makes you an idiot.
It doesn't make you an individual, but it doesn't make you an idiot either. There are some of us who recognized back in the '70s (and still do) that it was just another movie. Better made than its contemporaries, perhaps, but still just another movie. Some folks take simple entertainment way too seriously, IMO.
I've not seen it in its entirety, but I've seen bits and pieces over the years. What I've seen doesn't fascinate me a whole lot. I suppose one rainy day I'll sit down in front of the TV with a couple bags of microwave popcorn and watch all six of the SW movies in chronological order. That way I can get the people off my back who have nagged me about it for so long, and maybe I'll discover the secret about why people were so taken with it.
All that said, these were some great pictures in this post and it looks like the cast genuinely enjoyed each other's company.
Timmy -> the big thing for SW when it came out back in the mid 70's was that it broke the mold for sci-fi. The special effects for the time were groundbreaking; by today's standards, they are not. This is one of the main reasons so many folks went bonkers for the film ... and why ILM is around.
Must be neat for the cast to look back and know they were a part of something that has become a staple of popular culture. They just don't make movies like that anymore.
I was not a child of the 70's but I recognize the star wars films for what they were, groundbreaking special effects that continued to impress and stand alone even up through the 90's.
What's so rare about #10 (the one with Han and Chewie in an Action Pose on the Falcon's ramp? I had that (albeit a color one--maybe the one here is rare because it's B&W? Only thing I can think of) as a jigsaw puzzle when I was a kid, along with one of R2 and 3PO in the grand hall from the end of SW (that one was a publicity shot, as I recall), and a 500 piece puzzle of an X-Wing being chased by a TIE.
This is really interesting. I've never seen Star Wars before, not of my own choosing, but my brother is too young to care about it. Cool pictures though.

very cool!)))) Thanks from Russia!)))
The Han & Chewie posed shot in front of the Falcon's door was released as a "Star Wars Card" - I have it in both the Red and Orange series.
If they ever make a movie about George Lucas they should get Ben Stiller to play him lol.
excellent!
That is too funny...

Those are great pictures. Memories.
And then they had to ruin a nice moment by including George Lucas at the end.....
Poor Lucas, even though he invented the damn thing, he still gets no end of heckling for messing it up.
I second the "Carrie is hot" statement.
Everything seems better in this pictures.
lam kenal welah...........
Cheers for the look at these pictures, great post
These pics bring back so many
memories from when I was a kid and
the first Star Wars movie just
blew my socks away...
Seems that cast had a fab time shooting
the movie.
