Child Beauty Pageant

Child beauty pageants are for contestants from 0 to 18 years old. Divisions include talent, interview, sportswear, casual wear, swim wear, western wear, theme wear, outfit of choice, decade wear, and evening wear, typically wearing makeup as well as elaborate hairstyles. The contestants wear custom fitted and designed outfits to present their routines on stage.

Beauty pageants started in the United States in 1921, when the owner of an Atlantic City hotel struck upon the idea to help boost tourism. However, the idea had already circulated through "Most Beautiful Child" contests held in major cities across the country. The Little Miss America pageant began in the 1960s at Palisades Amusement Park in New Jersey. Originally, it was for teenagers from 13 to 17 years old, but by 1964 there were over 35,000 participants, which prompted an age division. The modern child beauty pageant emerged in the late 1960s, held in Miami, Florida. Since then, the industry has grown to include nearly 25,000 pageants. It is an increasingly lucrative business, bringing in about a billion dollars a year.

In 2001, HBO aired its Emmy-winning Living Dolls: The Making of a Child Beauty Queen, which garnered much attention.

Only in US where parents complain about pedos, almost as often as they feed them with these God awful abominable photos of their child.

Every time I see pictures of these little kids made up....eeeyyuugh.

Makes me want to vomit.

Notice how none of these kids even look happy. What they do to these children genuinely disgusts me.

Horrible and sickening - the parents should go to jail...

these poor girls! i swear i seen cleavage on the one in a red dress with white polka dots, wtf! is she wearing a push bra or something.

Absolutely sick. If you want to play with dolls do it but treating your child like a doll is de-humanizing and that's the best thing that can be said about it. These parents need serious psychiatric counselling.

I've seen a lot of perverse things in my 50 years, but this ranks near the top. Remember that these photos are just one facet of the bizarre and abusive treatment these kids receive.

Perverse!

i've seen some disturbing pictures, and never commented but this is ridiculous. the parents should get psych evals and then thrown up on charges.

It's a fucked up world. Their parents are ready to do what ever it takes for the kids to get famous. They even put them through surgery

i feel sorry for those kids. Its sad. Its a paradise for pedos. Disgusting. I am mother of a 5 years old girl and i would never do such thing with my daughter. i feel angry about their parents..

So NOT right. I can't for the life of me picture that they would like having their hair and makeup done for the hours that it takes. This is ugly. Seems alot have teeth aparatus. Just gives me the shivers.

What is with the miss america with the fake french nails?? So disturbing.

This is so saddening. The children are made up to be viewed as either adults years older than their age, or dolls, made of plastic. These parents do not have a grip on reality.

They're given fake tans, fake hair, fake teeth, fake lashes, fake nails, and plastered with make up. How is this a representation of beauty? You can't even see the child anymore! How can anyone, child OR ADULT be considered beautiful if you can't actually see what they really look like?

Yuck.

OMFG... idiot parents.

To the Anonymous BASTARD who thinks it's funny to talk about these little girls bodies, you need to go put yourself out of everyone's misery. Please feel free to stop your heart and lungs from working. Apparently your heart doesn't work right anyway.

These picture are proof of the love these innocent little girls feel for their parents. The parents need to be smacked in the face for putting these girls though this! It is repulsive and it makes me want to cry for all the babies that have to go through this everyday.

That is disgusting! All kids want to do is play in dirt, run around and get messy which they cant do if they have make up on constantly.

Go fuck yourselves!!!
These girls look dead sexy
All of them
Specially that little blondie with the red dress

I think child pageants are cute but they are a bit over the top with the makeup sometimes and there shouldnt be a swimwear round.

OK, bottom line: The prompters of Child Beauty Pageants are making over a BILLION Dollars a year off of this thing (entry fees, admission fees, advertising, etc) so mo matter how much any one hollers against it as long as there is money to be made it will go on. Look at all the other stuff that makes money that goes on, no matter how corrupt it may be...as long as it turns a profit it won't stop, money buys anything/everything. If the churches got their cut you can bet they'd be promoting it from the pulpits.

I did pagaents my entire childhood and I LOVED them! There are crazy stage moms out there but there are also parents that push their children to be the best football player, smartest in their class, best pianist. This is just another activity. People keep commenting that these girls look unhappy, I would challenge them to actually go to a pageant! The high energy atmosphere is addicting, I cannot name a single girl I competed with that did not love doing pageants!!

THIS NEEDS TO BE STOPPED!!! these pictures need to get off of the internet! There can not be another JonBenet Ramsey story! Whoever is the creator of this website get this pictures off!

The mothers of these girls are the ones who didn't make it being beautiful and trying to do it thru their daughters..sad...what happened to the natural beauty....the hair, the makeup..its okay if done tastefully...however these poor little girls look like they have been molded...the dresses are a bit over the top too...in pageantry the older girls in pageants wear a gown...tasteful..not something that weighs 45pounds from all the sequins, sparkles and so on...these little girls even have fake teeth,FAKE HAIR, FAKE EYELASHES...NOW COME ON.....wth..nothing PRETTY ABOUT ALL FAKE!!!

Anonymous said...

This is very disturbing, they look like aliens and I feel sad to describe any child in such a way but these photos are not right and the parents should question themselves.

i hapen to like todlers in tearas and other beauty padgents and when i am older and i have a daugter of my own she will be a padgent girl oh and most of the children want to do it so it isnt child abuse.

Its so sick and pathetic that parents, who are supposed to protect their innocent children, would make them up at such a young age and turn them into fake sluts. Its absolutely sick. The beauty of a sweet little innocent girl should be untouched and left as it is. These poor children are going to grow up thinking that they can't be pretty unless they pile a pound of makeup on their face, and that's just sad, especially because it's all their parents fault. Parents of pageant kids ought to be ashamed that they are sexualizing kids from the time they can walk! They are just using their children for their own satisfaction because they're too pathetic and ignorant to be successful on their own. I hope one day, these parents can be stopped from doing this and realize how wrong and sickening it is, but the way our society is now that probably won't happen:(

In response to everyone trying to use the classic 'but the kids WANT to enter the pageants' excuse; kids want to partake in all kinds of stupid and dangerous activities and will if left to their own devices. I recall thinking a plastic shopping bag would make a fine parachute, so I made my way upstairs to test my theory by jumping off the 2nd floor. My mother thankfully stopped me before I could jump. The moral here? Children will do stupid things that could potentially harm themselves and others; but parents know better and are responsible for protecting them until they have been taught to protect themselves. Look after your children! It's really that simple. If you would still like to argue that the kid wants to do pageants after seeing one or a picture of a pageant girl, try asking them what they like about it. I'm willing to bet they're enticed by the sparkly things or the dress up aspect. Fine. Totally normal. But there are way more productive activities incorporating these aspects that promote more positive ideals and attitudes, what about drama club? Or ballet? Or even just arts and crafts in general if it's the shiny, fluffy things they're after?
