Cobra Gold 2010 in Thailand

Cobra Gold is the largest multi-nation military exercise in the world, where soldiers from six nations learn how to deal with critical situations.

In 2010 the Cobra Gold military exercises are being held in Thailand, and this was apparently a chance for US soldiers to get acquainted with Thai delicacies. During a survival exercise at an army camp in Chon Buri Province, soldiers had to eat cooked scorpions and lizards, as well as drink that legendary wonder cure, cobra blood.

In some Asian cultures, snake blood is believed to enhance male potency and can be found in panacea stores. Now, why would Thai masters want to feed cobra blood to soldiers? After all, that’s not the gun they should be using, if you know what I mean ;)

Anon: if they weren't stupid, they wouldn't be out there dying for strangers, nor corrupt politicians.

I was from special forces, but anyway I think this kind of stupid cruelty don´t help anyone to be a stronger soldier.
Lots of procedures should be revised

Seriously?? You guys are going to bash these marines for learning some traditional Thai culture? Wow you guys really show what color you bleed and it isn't red, white, and blue.

I think it's pretty funny. They are experience diffent cultures. I'm very proud of our Marines. My son is actually in one of these pictures. I was just wondering why they had to do the cobra blood. Did they think they were going to get lucky? LOL

u know if they get bitten and have serum immediately they will be more resistant to the snakes venom if they get bitten again. so i think its a wuita smart thing to do when ur in the middle of the jungle for a while.

I love those who jumped at the opportunity to call other "stupid" on online blogs because that's the only word they can conjured upon at the moment. They amused me, and assured me that Melwood really does train mentally impaired people and provide them jobs. My money is not being wasted. Thank you Melwood!!!

Maybe you should get a taste of living in a country where there's a Hussein or Hitler or Stalin leading it. You might just appreciate what us stupid soldiers and sailors do for you ungrateful bastards!

If they weren't out there fighting, your stupid ass would be because there would be a draft, but then again I guess you were too smart to think of that.

Just want to educate some of moron here who doesn’t understand what “Survival Course” mean to these soldiers is? How to handle poison snakes drink their blood (or any blood) is good for hydrate especially when you’re in desert or jungles then you know what kind of snake or Insects you can eat. But not very soldiers have courage to do that, its good training and it might come handy someday.
American-Thai Marine.

I am glad that someone understands survival. This is not a course that makes someone stronger or better than anyone, but we are doing that in order to stay alive when we need too. We don’t do this for daily living guy. If someone do this for living I am agree that they are nut or stupid too.

We did that kind of shit when we were 4 years old. It's a joke, not an exercise. Look, they're sooooo happy... Who has the biggest one? lol

Experience some traditional culture? Let me laugh. If it was jumping in a garbage can, so would you do it with a big smile? lol! So useless and pitiful...

Welp, when you need a Marine, there is just no suitable substitute. Always get the OEM parts.
