Polish Terrier Meysi is the World's Smallest Dog

Tiny terrier Meysi weighed just 1.58 ounces when she was born in Poland three months ago, and is now vying for the title of world’s smallest dog.

“I have to keep Meysi in a cage when I’m not around because I’m afraid she’ll get stepped on,” her owner Anna Pohl told the local paper, Gazeta Jarocinska. “It’s a miracle Meysi is even alive.”

Meysi now weighs about 3.25 ounces, but is still smaller than a cellphone. Veterinarians do not think she will grow much bigger.

While the teensy canine may indeed be the world’s smallest dog, Pohl has to wait until Meysi is a year old before Guinness World Records guidelines will officially recognize her, as there is no category for smallest puppy.
