Prison in Rumbek, South Sudan

Around 300 inmates in Rumbek's Central Prison, in South Sudan, live in four warehouse-like dormitories crammed with bunk beds. Few if any had access to lawyers and around a third of the prisoners spend months on remand awaiting trial. South Sudan still executes prisoners convicted of murder, despite concerns about the lack of defence lawyers and a shortage of trained judges.
